Plant Manager Corner

Hello Adient Newark Team:
I hope this letter finds you and your family well. It certainly is unusual and unprecedented times we are living. As most of you know, many industries have been impacted by the current COVID-19 Pandemic. The automotive industry is seeing situations that have never been experienced before. These are truly challenging times for everyone.
As you can see under the heading of ‘Operating Pattern Changes’, our customer has shutdown operations as a means to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Please take time to review this carefully. The date for returning to work is the most recent we have at this time. Also, notice the HR Corner section on this site. Here you can see important information that will assist you as you navigate through the next few weeks. This website will provide the means to share information as soon as it is received. Please check this site frequently for updates.
The health and well-being of our employees is of the utmost importance to Adient. As you know, our facility has been, for the most part, closed since Friday, March 20, 2020. During this time the plant was thoroughly cleaned, sanitized and sat empty for at least 72 hours, many times over, to support the natural kill-off on any potential COVID-19 related contamination. In addition to the deep clean, we have made provisions to increase the cleaning frequency of all high traffic & high touch-point areas of our facility. There will be much more information in the coming weeks that will be shared with you as we begin the transition for return to work.

Covid Testing
As another method to help limit the spread of the Coronavirus, we encourage all employees to get a COVID-19 test at a local test site. All tests (even if you do not show symptoms) are covered at 100% by Adient medical plans.
If you have any symptoms, please get a test. If you do not have symptoms, you may still be able to get a test depending on location.
California allows testing for essential workers to include manufacturing regardless of symptoms, so we recommend all employees get a test.
If you have already returned to work and get a test, you must complete a new well-being survey.
If you have not returned to work yet, we recommend that you get a test just prior to your return to work date.
If you receive a positive test result, please do not return to work and contact your HR department.
Benefits Update
No change to benefit coverage through layoff or furlough. Company will continue to pick up the cost of employee cost share, medical and dental.
